Average To Savage: #2017ofEverything Workout No. 3
Notes from tonight’s training… 50 Squat Jacks immediately followed by 20 Broad Jumps sucks. There’s no way around that one. So why do it? You do it because it sucks that’s why. Why does David Goggins run when he hates running? How do you kill average?
You kill average with:
- # = 100 Jumping Jacks
- A = 10 Push-Ups
- V = 15 Burpees
- E = 10 Burpees
- R = 20+20 Shoulder Touches
- A = 10 Push-Ups
- G = 10+10 Lunges
- E = 10 Push-Ups
- T = 20 Crunches
- O = 50 Squat Jumps
- S = 12 Broad Jumps
- A = 10 Push-Ups
- V = 15 Burpees
- A = 10 Push-Ups
- G = 10+10 Lunges
- E = 10 Burpees
Average to Savage means no rest. Move from one drill to the next as quickly as possible. Sure you can’t breathe, sure your legs hurt, sure you’re tired. A savage does it all anyway. Average people stop when they’ve had just enough. Savages push past the urge to quit. Because that’s really all it is. An urge. Urges are not commands, they’re not programs that have to run, they’re not unavoidable. Urges have only as much power as you give them. So you’re urge to quit or to do it tomorrow instead because it’s late and you still have this, that and the other thing to do is nothing more than average talk, average think and average action.
“Average is a failing formula” -From The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone
19 minutes and 42 seconds later I was standing there, legs throbbing, chest heaving, drenched in sweat and happy. Happy because I finished, happy because I won, happy because I chose not to quit. In fact I chose over and over not to quit. Blasted past the urges to quit and kept going. When do you quit? What’s the price of quitting? What is the cost of just enough? What are the dues on average? Here’s what I know after tonight for sure. It’s better to be a savage!
