Gratitude Twelve: Daily Action Required
What is this gratitude twelve business anyway? So check this out, when not doing RichMansGym stuff, I am a Sales & Marketing Manager for Grant Cardone. And one of things Grant’s taught me is the magnitude of the phrase “outta sight outta mind.” Grant (and experience) has also made it perfectly clear that for any one of us, losing focus and not having your eye on the prize is literally a Twitter check away. One minute you’re on point, in your groove, next minute you look at Twitter, get offended by something and next thing you know, you just lost 55 minutes of your life.
Gratitude Twelve is about staying on point
Gratitude Twelve is about keeping your head in the game and your eye on the prize. Allow me to tell you everything and nothing about me all at once. Who I am today and consequently who you are as well is based on a couple things. Let me know if you agree with me on this but I am and we are the sum total of all the stupid shit we’ve done and all the smart shit we didn’t do. Combine that with all the excellent ideas we’ve have that we actually acted on, the good decisions we did make, good and bad experiences and all the love we’ve given and received and that is who you are today.
Good news & bad news
Basically it’s going to boil down to the this…
- THE BAD NEWS: Your present situation in life is a direct response to your thoughts, decisions and actions.
- THE GOOD NEWS: Your future situation in life is a direct response to your thoughts, decisions and actions
Can you be grateful for it all?
Challenging right? Because this means that you have to grateful for all if it. The good, the bad and the ugly. The wonderful and the horrific. It’s made you who you are and believe me when I tell you, you are absolutely wonderfully radiant as you are right now. Not buts. Even it yours is too big, you’re made in the image of God. God is perfect right? So are you. Follow?
So what’s the plan?
Well, look, if you want to get somewhere, you need to know where you were, where you’re at now and where you’re going. And if you want to stay on course, you also need to check that. Imagine trying to sail from San Francisco to Japan and just eyeballing it. Where would you wind up? Probably not Japan. You need to constantly check, adjust and alter course as needed. Also, you will spend WAY more time looking at where you’re going and where you’re at rather than looking at where you were.
The plan is this…
Schedule out two times during the day. Once in the AM and once in the PM to take 4-6 minutes and jot down your gratitude twelve. This will be broken out into 3 parts. 4 things you’re grateful for from your past, your present and your future. You should also do this anytime you find yourself discouraged, distracted or have a setback.
The Three Knows:
- Know your history so you don’t repeat it.
- Know where your at so you can stay the course.
- Know where you’re going so you can keep your eye on the prize.
Do you have your gratitude twelve notebook?
And to help you with your gratitude twelve and your three knows, you can get this journal over on Tee-Public. There’s a shirt to go with (obviously) but the attention is really on the notebook.
It’s a good size so you can take it anywhere you go and will fit easily in any travel situation.
Just split the page into thirds top is past, middle is now, bottom is the future.
This is a habit. Habits form when you do it over and over again so the ideal thing to do is do it every day and take it with you every where you go. Another idea is to have a place for it that is consistent. Like next to your favorite chair where you sit in the mornings. Also time stamping it and putting it on your calendar so you get daily reminders to do it.
