Dietary Supplements: 3 Mistakes You Might Be Making

My friends over at 10X Health along with The Ultimate Human, Gary Brecka, recently sent out an email listing off the top 3 dietary supplement mistakes and more importantly how to avoid them.  This is a perfect topic for the Rich Man’s Gym community.  So let’s see what these dietary supplement mistakes are and what to do about it.

  1. Not Getting What You Need
  2. Taking Weak Supplements
  3. Forgetting the Big Picture

Here’s the bottom line on this.  There’s more to supplementing then popping a couple Flintstones vitamins and thinking you’re healthy.  Don’t worry, there’s a Balance of Nature dig coming up shortly…

If we want to be The Ultimate Human, we must be hyper diligent about what we put in our body and be meticulous about how we work towards achieving peak performance, longevity and health.  And as the email Gary sent out poignantly states,

…the world around us is relentless as it pushes us further and further into unhealthy environments.”

Dietary supplements are crucial part of optimizing our health and unlocking our genetic potential.  And as we take this journey, we might be missing or making those 3 mistakes listed earlier.  So let’s look a little deeper into them and see what we can do about it as well.

Mistake #1:  Not Getting What You Need

Everybody is different and unique.  And so is every body.  Humans have so much in common and yet we’re all built different.  Something that works for one person might not do squat for somebody else.

What to do about it: Get Tested

10X Health offers the latest and greatest tests out there to figure out exactly what you’re missing and what your genes are lacking and needing asking.  If you’re taking supplements without knowing what your body needs, it’s like playing darts blindfolded.  If you’re taking supplements, make sure they’re the right supplements for YOUR body.

Mistake #2:  Taking Weak Supplements

This is the part where I make my passive aggressive dig on Balance of Nature…  Not all supplements out there are good for you, have quality in there or the active ingredients they claim.  There’s a lot of junk in the market that could lead to some very expensive urine from you.

What to do about it:  Get The Good Stuff

Do the legwork, grab supplements that your body can actually use, like the ones that go straight into your system and start working fast.  10X Health diligently sources and uses only the finest, most high-quality material and ingredients on the market and they don’t dilute their supplements with unnecessary fillers.  Only the best of the best for you and your body.

Mistake #3:  Forgetting the Big Picture

Supplements are just one piece of the puzzle.  Look, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  You can’t out run a doughnut.  You get out of your body, what you put in it.  So what you eat and drink, combined with your exercise and recovery plans, sleep, stress management, etc.  All of these things factor in to your overall health and wellness.  You want to make sure that your supplement plan is part of a bigger strategy because the real game-changer is how you live your life day to day.

What to do about it:  Keep Everything in Line

If you’re taking supplements for the sake of taking supplements it probably isn’t going to hurt you, but there’s a pretty good chance it isn’t going to help you much either.  Supplement based on your body’s needs and your lifestyle.  And make sure you’re eating well, you’re hydrated, you’re exercising regularly, sleeping well, getting in your recovery time and doing your breath work.

THE WRAP UP:  Dietary Supplement Mistakes

Remember the definition of supplement is “something that completes or enhances something else when added to it.”  Supplementing should enhance the good work you’re already doing.  It’s not designed to replace proper whole food nutrition, exercise, good sleep, etc.  It’s there to make what you’re already doing even better.  What’s your supplement protocol now?  Leave a comment and let me know, or if you need help with your supplement protocol, leave a comment below and let’s see what we can do to help.
